Our Research

The AI Risk and Regulation Lab conducts academic research on the legal and ethical, implications of artificial intelligence. Our work examines how regulatory frameworks and governance structures evolve in response to emerging technologies, and how these developments shape the functioning of legal systems in Canada and abroad. Grounded in the Lab’s connection to the access to justice community, our research pays particular attention to how AI may enhance or hinder access to legal information, processes, and remedies.

The Lab is currently examining the development of a risk management framework for law firms and legal clinics, with findings expected to be released in mid 2026. This research is supported by a grant from the Canadian Bar Association Law for the Future Fund, whose commitment to forward-looking legal scholarship we gratefully acknowledge.
